Interview with Ade Fenton

• How do you think your set went?
• I enjoyed it. I was a bit worried at first as there weren’t too many people, but it turned out to be really good.
• What did you think of Holodeck on the whole?
• You’ve got good thing going on there – its cool.
• What do you think of the British dance scene?
• I think it’s quite healthy at the minute, the whole loop based techno stuff is fading and I’m actually enjoying the records I’m being sent. Yeah, I’m quite enthusiastic about the techno scene right now.
• What’s been the best part of your career so far?
• The amount of countries I get to visit, it’s obviously a really nice way to earn a living - doing something you love and getting to see loads of different places. It’s rewarding.
• What’s been the worst?
• I’ve stayed in some ropey places in the past. Most of the time everything’s been fine but there have been a few occasions that I won’t mention – just in case the people are reading this!
• What’s you’re favourite club?
• Apart from Atomic Jam, there’s quite a few. Let me think, Circuito in Brazil, Cosmos in Belguim, Metropolis in Bulgaria and La Real in Spain – they’re all huge.
• Your idealistic night out?
• Probably just a night with all my friends doing lots of illegal substances and having a good time really.
• Plans for 2003 ?
• I’m starting a tour of Serbia and Bosnia this week, then Malaysia, Australia and Hong Kong towards the end of June. Then in November, I’ll be touring South America. In between, I’ll be working heavily on new album material.
• What was the first record you ever bought?
• Down in the park – Doo Boy Army
• Who’s your favourite producer?
• Ok, if we’re talking techno it would have to be DJ Rush. Otherwise, it would be Nine Inch Nails.
• What’s your favourite sandwich?
• Ha ha. What a bizarre question! Steak and cheese
